You're Gonna Need a Bigger Boat

I'm slowly coming to the realization that nobody reads blogs on Saturdays and Sundays. At least, LESS people read MY blog on Saturdays and Sundays. Then again I have a kid, and I'm not out getting wasted on the weekend anymore. Therefore, here are some things on my mind:

There are certain movies that I ALWAYS have to watch if they happen to be on while I am going to bed. Usually there are not two on at the same time. God forbid I would have to make a choice between two favorite movies. I was put to such a choice recently. Both Jaws and Predator were on at the same time. A tiny conflict occurred in my brain, on the one hand, Predator may be the most "timeless" action movie I have ever seen, in that it could literally have come out in the theater this week and you wouldn't say that the effects, story-line, and action sequences looked dated. Plus, I fuckin' love Arnold Schwarzenegger. On the other hand, Jaws is PERFECT, albeit dated. Plus Roy Scheider saying, "Smile you son of a bitch" is probably my favorite scene in a movie EVER.

Jaws won. I did not know that about myself until I was put to the test. Sometimes you must be tested!

Which takes me to my next topic. I DO NOT like the commercial for Direct TV that uses the scene from Poltergeist where the little girl says, "They're here." That girl is dead. She died when she was young. Who pimps out a dead child to sell products? It's just not right.

Third topic. I CONSISTENTLY write "write" when I mean "right" and vice versa.

The End.

It's not just your blog. People blog less on the weekends. I still read, because I am insane, but I don't post.

And I don't think I've seen the Poltergeist commercial. I've seen many of the other ones. The joy of DVRs.

But a dead kid shilling for 'Poltergeist', dude, look at the SYMMETRY of that! Maybe they could update the clip by having her face melt or something.

'Predator' was much better than 'Commando'. I think you are right about the plot, etc.

I blog on the weekends because I can't stop. Plus, I have a small child. And I lack the stamina I used to have. Somebody get me a beer, will ya?

McJoe...I have so been there! I love both movies. I have Predator on DVD, so I'd watch Jaws. Plus, I love when they sing 'Show me the way to go home' in the boat while drinking. When 2 good movies are on, I try to watch both movies and flip back and forth between channels. I really liked Alien Vs. Predator too.

About that commercial...I don't like it either. It makes me uncomfortable. Maybe her family gave them permission.

Write and right...you suffer from homonym-phobia. I think the treatment for that is sex. Tell you wife/significant other I said so. I've just declared myself an authority. :)

Total Recall next. Those are some good movies to watch.

I LOVE to watch JAWS. My family always makes fun of me, but I love the part where he says "You're gonna need a bigger boat." I also love the singing scene. It's a damn good movie!!

dude, I came across your blog through a friend and just wanted to tell you that it's one of the good ones out there. I really enjoed going back and reading some of your older posts. I think that a lot of bloggers don't blog on weekends either. I'm trying to do something more consistant with my blogs but so far I haven't - keep up the good work and I look forward to reading more

I recently heard about some city in Texas that does crazy things like shows Jaws on a big screen while people watch from the ocean/bay in inner tubes, just floating around in the water. There is NO WAY IN HELL I could watch jaws and be sitting in the water waiting to be attacked. I could barely deal with the Jaws ride at Disney World....

I read when I'm at work and I have some down time. At home, I'm usually playing on the computer or messing with MY BRAND NEW PLAYSTATION 3!
